KAL-ASD wins $333.5m UAV contract

<p><strong>The&nbsp;Korean Air Aerospace Division&nbsp;(KAL-ASD) has won a $333.5 million contract to produce its KUS-7 UAV for the South Korea&rsquo;s Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA).</strong></p> <p>In a statement, KAL-ASD gave no details about the number of aircraft it will produce, but the contract runs from 2016 to 2020.</p> <p>According to its website, the KUS-7 has an operational radius of 50km and can operate at altitudes of up to 2,000m. Nearly 95% of its components are produced indigenously in South Korea.</p> <p>The aircraft is 3.4m long with a wingspan of 4.2m. It is equipped with a wheeled undercarriage for takeoff and landing.</p> <p>KAL-ASD is a unit of flag carrier&nbsp;Korean Air. In addition to UAV work, it also provides MRO services for military and commercial aircraft.</p>
